Prof Sanjay Mishra delivers a lecture on entrepreneurship at IIT Patna

It was not just another lecture at Indian Institute of Technology, Patna. With the environment of entrepreneurship mounting swiftly at IITP , there was a need to concentrate on the new entrants of the institute to make them cognizant about the most trending term of "entrepreneurship", so that they can pioneer their reverie to the world of reality and veracity. It was essential to shape their minds about the extraordinary league of entrepreneurs who have revolutionized the existence of people on the earth and will continue to do so.

To gratify these needs, the Entrepreneurship Club, IIT Patna organized a lecture series on "Who are Entrepreneurs and Why Entrepreneurship?" and "How to make a B Plan." Setting up the trend of late night lectures, IIT Patna witnessed an unprecedented event because of the fact that it involved students from fresher to the students in the pre-final and final years. Visiting professor from University of Kansas, Prof. Sanjay Mishra gave a talk on the topic drawing attention to the actual meaning of entrepreneurs and implications of being an entrepreneur and further moved to explain the basics of Business Plan writing.

"Entrepreneurs are fascinated with themselves. They spark our creativity, motivate us to action, and inspire us to greatness. They offer us insights into the spirit behind innovation and genius. And they act as fuel to the blue-flame fire that burns deep within every true entrepreneur."

He started with a basic level of understanding of who an entrepreneur is and went on to dispel the fallacy on the part of the students, in order to create a practical and pertinent image of an entrepreneur. He said that being entrepreneur doesn't always mean to be another Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gate. Even a vegetable seller is an entrepreneur as he is "observer of opportunities." But then he encouraged too to be an entrepreneur who belongs to group of the likes of Steve Jobs or Bill Gates or someone like them.

He called entrepreneur as an observer of opportunities and cited a fact from a survey stating that more percent of entrepreneurs get idea from their working place rather than generating it altogether. Stressing on the importance of forming a team of diverse people in order to spread diversity among the organization in the sense of getting more ideas and then settling to a better idea rather than letting just the people who have same mental thinking and cannot reach beyond a certain level of thought process, he called on for a sea change from our side in terms of wisdom and urged us to be a responsible citizen by turning into a social entrepreneur at some point of our life.

The student fraternity felt blessed to get an opportunity to attend a lecture which critically analyses an entrepreneur and then also guides and stimulate to do something for the country. A student was noticed saying "If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much." , a quote by Jim Rohn, Entrepreneur, Author, Motivational Speaker.
